I thought that it would be a great idea to research the concept art behind Gravity Falls as it has become one of my favorite shows lately. I really enjoyed looking at Bridgette and Sean's work.
They have really motivated me to practice digital and traditional art more, especially because their work is so neat in my opinion anyway.
After reading Bridgette's blog I was so surprised that she thought the show was never going into production, and now its a really popular show a few years later.
Though the way that Bridgette created her concepts interested me a lot, from what I can see i'm sure she uses markers and then inks over the top? I could be wrong. I'll be using some copic ciao markers to emulate her techniques. I think she just wanted to give the characters a little bit of life by adding some colour to her concepts, its a really good idea and it makes them look a lot nicer, though I will need to stick to the brighter colors like she did.
I also wanted to share a quick warm up sketch I did on photoshop (on the right) a villain character named 'Bill Cipher' from the show. He has a thing for calling Dipper 'Pine Tree', hes definitely my favorite as he is a really interesting character.
