Organic and Inorganic Form Study
Using both primary and secondary sources I began studying them by creating annotated sketches in my sketchbook. The first Gallery will present all of my primary sources. The second gallery will present all of the secondary sources I used, links have been provided to the original locations of the pictures if they are secondary sources. Just click on the image to be directed to that location.
After I had carefully picked out and considered my images, I began the sketching process. I annotated on what they were and why i wanted to draw them. Sometimes pointing out on where you may see these objects in a game. I did begin to annotate on the pages traditionally, but I didn't want to ruin the pages or sketches and leave them as they were.
All of my sketches were done using 3H and 4H sketching pencils and I used a cross hatching like method.

Sketch #1 - Rock
As mentioned in the picture above, this is the sketch of the rock that I found on the beach many years ago. I picked it up because it looked like it had a paw print on it, it felt like I had found a one of a kind treasure back then and It will always be a special keepsake. I found it pretty easy to draw since it was a simple shape altogether.
Sketch #2 - Miniature Pumpkin
This is a sketch of the miniature pumpkin that we have on display in the house, it was actually easy to draw despite the fact that it was more difficult than the rock in the first sketch. I enjoyed doing this one, it is definitely something that I would want to put into my game. Especially for backgrounds or environment purposes. In the corner of the picture you can see I quickly sketched out a 'fantasy' like pumpkin. Not extremely exciting, but it was just an idea. Overall I would say that the sketch of the miniature pumpkin is one of my favorites.
Sketch #3 - Shell
A shell that I picked up from the same beach as the paw print rock. It was the only one in the garden that hadn't been broken and it stood out to me. I actually found this one quite difficult because the spiral of the shell was at a funny angle and I often got them in the wrong places.
Sketch #4 - Key
One of the keys that we use in the house, I chose to draw this key in particular because it is the one key that annoys me most. I'm unsure if it is because it is rusty or cut wrong but the key does not work straight away. I found the key extremely difficult to draw, I didn't enjoy drawing it at all, but I knew trying to draw a key could be important for the future if I ever thought about adding them into my game - it is something pretty common in games.
Sketch #5 - Weeds
Another one of my favorite sketches. I love this one because I think it turned out very good! I'm quite proud of this sketch. This weed was just a random plant that I saw whilst taking a picture of my paw print rock outside, I found it surprisingly fun to draw. The shading worked out perfectly in my opinion.
Sketch #6 - Clock gear charm
I really like steam punk fashion, I didn't really think about it until last minute but I wanted to draw a gear of some sort. Honestly this is my least favorite sketch. I didn't enjoy drawing this at all, and I hate the outcome. I didn't even want to finish the sketching so I just left it and moved on.
Sketch #7 - Victorian style chair
I love Victorian furniture, i'm not quite sure why but I've always wanted a chair like this one. This sketch wasn't easy, I struggled with it at first but it turned out okay in the end. I think that I was really demotivated after drawing the gear charm so it didn't turn out as great as I wanted it too.
Sketch #8 - Carved arrow head
This sketch is of a carved arrow head, which is found at the ends of the poles that hold up curtains. I thought it was a relevant sketch to do because I may choose to use arrows as part of weaponry in the future. I enjoyed sketching the arrow head out, and I'm pleased with how the outcome looks.
Sketch #9 - Bow (Hair accessory)
I mainly picked out the bow at random. In my opinion a bow is a common accessory used on characters or as decoration so I wanted to try drawing one. When I picked it out I thought it may be easy to draw and shade, unfortunately I was wrong. I found it very hard to get the shading accurate, I do like the outcome but I'm not as happy with it as I was for the arrow head.
Sketch - #10 Burning candle stick
A melting candle stick that I chose because I knew I had seen torches or candles in gaming quite commonly. The picture is wonky but not the sketch, the scanner wouldn't scan my page properly, other than that I enjoyed this sketch. However I did struggle with the melted wax on the candle stick. Only because I had to make a really close observation on the picture and I know that it isn't as accurate as it could have been.
